In order to be able to serve the steadily increasing demand of the international customer base even faster and with the highest quality in the future, we have taken extensive measures in the last two years. Plant 2, the production facility for wheels and castors made of VULKOLLAN ® , electrically conductive VULKOLLAN ® ELF and TRACTOTHAN ® and polyurethane treads, was not only expanded by 3,700 m2 from January 2019 to the beginning of 2021, but also comprehensively modernized. After the first construction phase was completed at the end of 2019, all renovation work has been completed since the beginning of 2021.
Specifically, the existing capacities were expanded by an automatic casting line for VULKOLLAN ® , consisting of a casting machine as well as a preheating and casting furnace - equipped with gas burners for efficient, energy-saving heating. The existing cleaning systems for core preparation have also been expanded to include a new washing machine and will in future run in a network including new, fully automatic load carrier loading.
The working conditions for the team in Plant 2 have also improved significantly as a result of the expansion. Ergonomic and more spacious workplaces with more daylight and improved supply and exhaust air relieve our employees. In addition, the material flow was optimized and made more user-friendly by adapting the machine setup.
After all, the plant on Pollhornbogen is also up-to-date from an ecological point of view: It complies with the latest Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV), the floor was designed in accordance with Section 19 of the Water Management Act and a modern ventilation system with heat recovery was installed.
